Walker Twp. buggy accident
HOWARD - A horse and car collided on Route 64 in Walker Township Sunday at 1:30 p.m., Trooper Mathias G. Schmotzer of state police at Rockview said.
Evan Yoder, 18, of Lewistown, was driving a 2006 Saturn SL2 east and a horse and buggy operated by Sally Biler, 16, of Howard, was in the westbound lane when Biler tried to make a left turn onto Wise Road in front of Yoder's auto, police said.
Yoder tried to avoid the accident, but his vehicle struck the horse in the nose, then traveled across the highway to come to rest against the westbound guide rail, police said.
The horse was severely injured, police said.
Four sentenced in Lyco County
WILLIAMSPORT - Four area people were recently sentenced in Lycoming County Court.
Abigail L. Strohecker, 25, of 94 Rag Valley Road, Mill Hall, was sentenced to 10 days to 18 months in county prison, a $25 fine, 50 hours' community service and $50 in restitution for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Jerry L. Rinhart Jr., 27, of 690 S. Broad St. Apt. 15, Jersey Shore, was sentenced to five years inermediate punishment with 90 days in the Pre-Release Center, a $1,500 fine and 75 hours' community service for driving under the influence.
Lester W. Seamon, 54, of 3439 Queneshaque Road, Linden, was sentenced to six months intermediate punishment with 72 hours' in the Pre-Release Center, a $1,000 fine and 75 hours' community service for driving under the influence.
James H. Dershem, 33, of 15 Peach St., Lock Haven, was sentenced to 12 months probation, 50 hours' community service and $598 in restitution for retail theft.
MILLHEIM - Somebody placed a burning paper bag filled with feces on the front porch of a 78-year-old woman's house and then set the bag on fire, Trooper Richard Swank of state police at Rockview said.
Police said, fortunately, the bag went out without catching the house on fire.
