Samuel and Jane Myers of Avis celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 11, 2011.
They first met at the Bald Eagle Dairy. They were married by Rev. C. Gail Norris at the Trinity Methodist Church in Lock Haven. They took a honeymoon trip to Niagara Falls, N.Y.
An anniversary dinner with family was celebrated on Aug. 6, 2011 in Crownsville, Mf. The event was planned by their children and grandchildren.

Samuel and Jane Myers
Samuel is the son of the late LeRoy Myers of Lock Haven and the late Katherine Vose of Williamsport. He worked at Piper Aircraft for 28 years in the aircraft industry until closure of the company in 1984. He most recently retired from the Avis Ace Hardware Store after working 20 years as a service representative.
Jane is the daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruth Farringer of Mill Hall. She retired form Woolrich Woolen Mills as a sewing operator after 28 years of service.
The couple has four children, Colleen Appleby of Manchester, Edward Myers of Avis, Ruth Vassey of New Salem and Sandra Kershner of Avis; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Sam and Jane enjoy home renovation projects, gardening, quilting, their church and social gatherings, traveling, and visiting family and friends.
Sam's advice for a long marriage is, "Think it, but don't say it." Jane's advice is "Work things out."
