I have seen many comments about how this Marcellus Shale gas well drilling and the pipelines then needed will damage our forests and game lands.
That is a possibility while this construction work is progressing, but in a few years, it will be a benefit to our forests and game lands, plus high-paying jobs and added benefits to many in Clinton County.
Why? It is right here for all to see the proven results from existing natural gas pipelines and compressor stations in Tamarack and Salladasburg.
About 40 years ago, natural gas was found by Dorsey Calhoun near Tamarack. Some made a lot of money, but what was there was used up in a couple of years.
So the big national gas companies built pipelines up from Texas, Louisiana, etc., and they used the old underground gas wells as big storage tanks to supply a lot of the East Coast.
The companies maintain the gas pipelines and man the pump stations in the forests that are a benefit for hikers, campers, hunters, snowmobiles and game of all sizes on a 24/7 basis. These cleared pathways also give access and possible forest fire containment.
I've been to Crossfork and Tamarack and seen this for myself.
If you want to see for yourself, take a drive in the area of Tamarack and talk to the people who live there.
Do not let the so-called environmentalists scare you like they did with the Drake Chemical clean-up in Lock Haven some years back.
