Thomas "Tom" Long, formerly of Flemington, has been named director of marketing and communications for the United Way of York County.
Long, the son of Francis Long and the late Mary T. Long of Flemington, took his new position in mid-January, after leaving a 25-year newspaper career.
"United Way has always been a passion of mine and I believe very strongly in the mission of the organization," Long said.
"I've been a volunteer in several capacities in the Harrisburg area for more than a decade and have always enjoyed the work, so the choice to join them as a director was an easy decision."
Long resides in Dillsburg with his wife MaryAnn.
