Church to screen 'Courageous'

DUNNSTOWN - God's Eternal Life Church offers a family night at 7 p.m. Friday featuring the full-length movie "Courageous."

The full-scale production tells the story of four men with one calling: to serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, they are confident and focused, standing up to the worst the streets have to offer. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle - fatherhood. Protecting the streets is second nature. Raising their children in a God-honoring way? That's courageous.

The church is at 50 Woodward Ave., across from the Minit Mart.

St. Luke's offers book study

LOCK HAVEN - A book study is offered at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, beginning Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Each week the group will discuss a section of the devotional book "Wilderness Wanderings" by Marilyn Brown Oden. The study will end April 6, the Tuesday of Holy Week.

Trinity Episcopal observes Lent

JERSEY SHORE - Trinity Episcopal Church plans special events Wednesdays during Lent.

Holy Communion and Stations of the Cross are offered at noon each week.

Also, a weekly Lenten supper and study, "Making Sense of the Cross," includes a simple supper of soup and bread at 6 p.m., followed by Bible study. All are invited, and the youth are particularly encouraged to attend.

Calling chili cooks

HOWARD - The Howard Christian Church has slated a chili cookoff for Friday, March 9 at 6 p.m.
