r Community Lenten Breakfasts at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., are held Wednesdays from 7 to 7:50 a.m. The free hot breakfasts are held in the church's fellowship hall, accessible by elevator. They include a program of hymns, Scripture and a short meditation by an area pastor. Rev. Jeff Seeley, Protestant Campus Ministry pastor at Lock Haven University, is the speaker next week.
r Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Parish offers weekly Stations of the Cross at both churches - Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at St. Agnes and Fridays at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception. Fish fries also are held Fridays at I.C. Church Hall from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
r The Salvation Army, 119 E. Church St., offers a soup luncheon and Bible study Wednesdays at noon.

r A Lenten lunch Wednesday at noon is offered free to the community, with pastors of the Beech Creek/Blanchard Area Ministerium speaking. The lunch next week will be held at Liberty Baptist Church.

r Howard Christian Church offers a Bible study at 1:30 p.m. Thursdays of events surrounding the death of Jesus (Luke 22 and 23).
JERSEY SHORE
r Trinity Lutheran Church in Avis is hosting the other Jersey Shore area Lutheran congregations Wednesday evenings for a meal at 5:30 p.m. followed by Bible study. Next week's topic is "Holy Baptism."
r Trinity Episcopal Church offers Holy Communion and Stations of the Cross at noon Wednesdays and a simple supper at 6 p.m. followed by the study "Making Sense of the Cross."
MILL HALL
r The Mill Hall United Methodist Church offers its annual Lenten Lunch and Drama Series on Thursdays at noon.
NIPPENOSE VALLEY
r Community services are held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, with Oval United Methodist Church hosting next week.
NITTANY VALLEY
r Nittany Valley Fellowship services are held Sundays at 7 p.m. at Lamar United Methodist Church. Preaching tomorrow is Rev. Nancy Kuhns of the Salona, Mt. Bethel and Emmanuel United Churches of Christ. Canned goods are collected each week for St. Paul's Food Pantry and the Faith Center. The offerings go to the NVF Heating Fund which helps struggling families with heating costs.
r St. Mark Lutheran Church, Snydertown - Candlelight prayer, a quiet 25-minute liturgy of scriptures, contemplation and prayer, at 8:15 p.m. Wednesdays.
SUGAR VALLEY
r Community services are offered on the theme "The Hills of Lent" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The offerings go to the Booneville Campground Bathroom Project. Next week's service will be hosted by St. John Lutheran Church at Booneville and is on the topic "Mount Zion."
UNITED METHODIST CHURCHES
r Area United Methodist congregations come together for worship at 4 p.m. Sundays. The 2012 theme is "The Trials of Jesus," with services featuring dramatic monologues, hymns and prayers. Tomorrow's host is Woolrich Community Church with with Pastor Tom Jones speaking. Refreshments will follow.
