Being a mother

March 27, 2012
By Linda L. Eggler - North Bend , The Express

Being a mother isn't a very easy job. You have a long road to travel, with right turns and wrong turns, ventures no one can fore-tell. There is no time off for sick days. Nor are there vacation or holiday pay. For being a mother is a 24-hour job.

We experience so many emotions as we watch our children grow. We have our laughter and our tears. We're proud. We hurt when our children hurt. There are fears and worry and pain. Some days our world feels like it will tumble. Then there is sunshine and laughter everywhere. For being a mother is worth every ounce of emotion we endure.

So when that little hand holds yours, or a warm embrace comes from no where, or that smile warms your heart ... you know you'd never trade the job of motherhood for anything. For it is worth it all, and you thank God for the blessing of this child in your life.

Time flies so quickly You want to cry out for time to stop. For time goes too fast. Before you know it, they are grown leaving home. You feel alone and your heart aches. But don't you worry or fret ... Motherhood isn't over yet. For being a mother is a job you'll never lose. You may have to let go. But, on the other hand, you'll always be there ready and willing to help in anyway you can. For you're a mother until you take your last breath.
