Barbara Joanne Vilello, 81, of 360 E. Park St., Lock Haven, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Lock Haven Extended Care.
She was born on Oct. 11, 1930 in Monument, the daughter of the late William and Annie Stricker Durkin.
Joanne and her family were previous owners of the Whipporwill and The Village Tavern restaurants. She then worked for Wolfe Furniture until her retirement.
She was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church, Lock Haven, Sons of Italy, Lock Haven V.F.W. and a lifetime member of both the Lock Haven Moose and the Lock Haven Legion.
Joanne was a caring person and mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Donald P. Durkin of Williamsport and Thomas R. Vilello Jr. (Shirley) of Lock Haven; a daughter, Deborah L. Vilello of Flemington; a niece, June M. Sample (Terry) of Beech Creek; two grandchildren, Thomas R. Vilello III (Carrie) and Holly Chapman; three great-grandchildren, Thomas IV, Emma and Aspen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 11 siblings.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.
Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m until the time of the service.
Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lock Haven V.F.W. or the Lock Haven Legion.
