Richard F. Bowers

Richard F. Bowers, 90, born Feb. 14, 1922, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2012.

He was the last of 11 children born to Richard and Annie Packer Bowers in South Renovo.

He served in the Navy on the USS Randorf in WWII where he received a bronze star for his heroic actions.

He belonged to the congregation of the Caldwell United Methodist Church, the McElhattan Gun Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Haneyville Volunteer Fire Company.

He retired from Hammer-mill Paper Company in 1976.

He was a very avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving is his wife of 71 years, Ruth Quiggle Bowers. They were married in Winchester, Virginia on Sept. 14, 1940.

Also surviving are his children, Bonnie (Steve) Pfaff of Lock Haven, Susan (Karl) Galbraith of Mill Hall, and Richard (Debby) Bowers of Mill Hall; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the McElhattan United Methodist Church or the Caldwell United Methodist Church.
