Bald Eagle drops against Tyrone, 11-9

WINGATE - The Bald Eagle Area Eagles lost to Tyrone yesterday, 11-9, in Wingate.

Tyrone managed to post three runs in the first, and sealed the game with a six-run fourth inning.

"We dug ourselves into a hole early," BEA manager Jim Gardner said. "We battled back a bit, but couldn't finish it."

John Romine threw a complete game for the Eagles, giving up 11 runs on nine hits.

For the game, there was a total of nine errors - five for Tyrone and four for BEA.

"It was a sloppy game," Gardner said. "But that is baseball. We just have to move forward from here."

BEA will host Mifflin County on Wednesday.

Bucktail falls

at home

FARWELL - Montgomery scored four runs in the opening inning, and plated 17 on the day en route to a 17-5 victory over Bucktail in baseball yesterday.

Bucktail cut it to 6-4 after two innings, but the Bucks committed a total of eight errors in the game.

Chuck Probst had three singles to pace Bucktail, while Ryan Bratton and Willie Hopkins added a double. Bratton was award the loss on the hill.

Bucktail is back in action Thursday at Oswayo Valley.

Wildcats swept

by Tigers

HOLLIDAYSBURG - The Central Mountain track and field teams were swept by Hollidaysburg.

On the girls' side, Jena Toner won four events but the Lady Wildcats lost to the Lady Golden Tigers, 80.5-69.5. Toner finished first in the 100, 200, 400 and long jump. Her jump of 18-1 was a season-best in the long jump.

On the boys' side, Austen Randecker and Aaron Fisher each had two firsts in CM's 78-72 loss to Hollidaysburg. CM won five of the seven events in the field - Kyler Klein in the javelin, Randecker in the triple and long jumps, Tyler Cryder in the discus and Sam McCloy in the high jump.
