Applause!! Applause!!

April 21, 2012
The Express

The Express highlights people, groups and activities worthy of applause, each Saturday morning.

On behalf of the Liberty Baptist Church, we would like to give a big THANK YOU to the workers at the Foster Joseph Sayers Memorial Park for allowing us to use the park for our Annual Cross Walk. The park is always clean and the scenery is outstanding. You really need to be proud of yourself for maintaining such a beautiful spot and it makes a nice journery for our annual event. Agasin thanks to everything you do to help us. We look forward to seeing you again next year.

Susque-View Home would like to THANK the community for its support of the Spring Craft Show held on March 31, 2012. Special thanks go out to the many vendors, staff members, volunteers, and residents who helped and attended the Craft Show. And very special thanks go out to the many local businesses and individuals who donated items and supported our event: Amazing Grace Ministries, Castanea Fire Co., Checkers Restaurant, D. Dashem Books, Denny Electric, Fitness Unlimited, Inspirations Floral Studio and Gift Boutique, Johnson's Hair Salon, Lynda's Upscale Resale, M&J Supply Company, Middleswarth Potato Chips, Southern Care Hospice, Subway, The Bus Stops Here, The Old Corner, Snippers, Susque-View Home and Sodexo staff members, Van Campen Motors Inc., WSQV Radio and Music One.

APPLAUSE to everyone who sent me get well cards and had me on their prayer chains while I was in two hospitals and three months at Manor Care in Jersey Shore. A special thanks to my two friends who helped me out when I came home - Mary Lou Smith and Nancy Allen. It is so wonderful to be home again.

- Joan Probst, Lock Haven

THANK YOU to Rich, Lori and the staff at the Clinton Country Club for all their help with our Relay for Life Spring Fling. The facility and the service was fantastic. Much appreciation also to Snug who, as always, provided the main ingredient for the party. Thanks, guys!

- Leslie Smith, Lock Haven

It is with sincere THANKS that I recognize the tireless efforts of Fresh Air Fund volunteers in northcentral Pennsylvania as the country celebrates National Volunteer Week this week. Their commitment to helping New York City children is exemplary for all community members and truly embodies the spirit of the 2012 National Volunteer Week theme, "Celebrating People in Action."

Fresh Air volunteers work in several capacities throughout the year in 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada to help make The Fresh Air Fund's programs possible. Dedicated Fresh Air host families open their homes and share the everyday joys of summertime with their Fresh Air guests. Our local volunteer leaders many of whom are also hosts serve on our local committees, plan summer activities, publicize the program and interview prospective host families. Additionally, individuals and businesses give generously of their time and resources to make the Volunteer Host Family Program throughout this area a great success each and every summer.

The Fresh Air Fund, an independent, not-for-profit agency, has provided free summer experiences to more than 1.7 million New York City children since 1877. For more information on how you can help to continue this wonderful tradition of volunteering, please call The Fresh Air Fund at 800-367-0003 or visit www.freshair.org.
