George W. Bailey Sr., 85, of 1293 Martins Road, Linden, died Thursday morning, April 26, 2012 at his home.
Born Sept. 16, 1926 in Jersey Shore, he was the son of David Bailey and the former Elsie Lowmiller.
George is survived by his wife, the former Mary Jane Bastian. They were united in marriage Sept. 3, 1949 in the Milton United Methodist Church.
George was a graduate of the Jersey Shore High School. While in high school, he received the Keystone Farmer and American Farmer Award. In 1959, he was voted the Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year. He was a self employed farmer and for 17 years served as a Piatt Township supervisor.
Also surviving are two sons, George W. (Amy) Bailey Jr. of Linden and Craig A. (Trudy) Bailey Sr. of Linden; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.
Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. Tuesday until time of services in the funeral home.
Family will provide flowers. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Rev. Kevin E. Brophy will officiate.
