Dean F. Young, 82, of Seminary Street, Jersey Shore, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012.

He was born in Farrandsville, June 25, 1929, a son of Percy and Louella Simcox Young.

He was a 1947 graduate of Lock Haven High School and was married to the former Virginia Mae Strouse. She died on Nov. 5, 2010.

Early in his life, he was employed briefly at Pier Aircraft in Lock Haven. He was employed for over 40 years with Hammermill Paper in the bleaching department.

He and his wife Virginia enjoyed traveling together. He was an avid Phillies, Eagles and Penn State fan. He enjoyed photography and loved his family, especially his great-grandchildren.

Dean is survived by two daughters, Debra A. (Dale) Sanders of Williamsport and Pamela J. Young (Bob Cuba) of Mill Hall; a brother, William P. (Mary) Young of McElhattan and two sisters, Betty Young Miller of Lock Haven and Sara (Daniel) Strouse of Cogan Station; two grandchildren Carrie Kiess Hill and Matthew Kiess; two great grandchildren Dylan C. Hill and Cash M. Hill; many nieces and nephews and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Dean's Life Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, from the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.

Friends and relatives may call Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

His family will provide flowers and suggests contributions be made to the Alzheimers Assn., 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, Pa.. 18701 or the Lung Assn. of America, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW Suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20004.
