Barbara "Ruth" Heimer, 81, of 12 Linwood Drive, McElhattan, died May 1, 2012 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born on March 3, 1931 in Castanea, a daughter of the late Richard H. and Viola E. Boone McCaleb.
She was married to Dean R. Heimer, who died on Feb. 13, 2006.

She was a member of the Clinton County Piece Makers Quilt Club and the McElhattan Fire Co.
A 1948 graduate of Lock Haven High School, she was co-owner of Heimer's Trailer Sales for 25 years and worked as a secretary for Keystone Central School District for 13 years.
She enjoyed camping, playing cards, traveling and fishing.
Surviving are a son, Scott L. (Joanne) Heimer of Avis; a daughter, Cynthia H. (Dave) Karichner of Dunnstown; a sister, Ethel Rockey of Centre Hall, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a daughter, Nydean (Beth) Irvin, who died in 2002.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with Pastor T.R. Hardic officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, Ross Library or McElhattan United Methodist Church.
