Thomas E. Schnars, 87, of North Bend died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 18, 1924 in Westport, the son of the late Edward H. and Rachel (Clark) Schnars.

He was married to the former Sarah W. Crouse on October 25, 1952. They celebrated 59 years of marriage together.

Thomas retired as a machinist from the Pennsylvania Railroad after 25 years. He was also a church custodian at St. Joseph Church for 25 years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He served in the Army during World War II and he also served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife; two sons Edward T. (Billie) Schnars of McElhattan and Mark E. (Jody) Schnars of Howard; a daughter Shelley A. (Thomas) Regis of Leesport, and seven grandchildren, Andrew, Rachel, Garrett, Nicole, Kayla, Colton and Gauge.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lolly Scrimshaw and Jane Boyer.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo, with the Rev. Donald E. Boslett officiating.

Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner.
