Public invited to herb program
LOCK HAVEN - The May 14 meeting of the Clinton County Herb Guild will feature a talk by Dot Lechmanick about chia seeds and remarks by Dot Taormina about rose, the herb of the year.
Meetings are open to the public and are held in Conference Rooom E of Lock Haven Hospital at 7 p.m. the second Monday of the month.
At the most recent meeting, Sandy Considine presented a program on plant-based and raw foods. She explained the value of eating foods in their raw form for nutrient and medicinal value, showed members how to make soup, salad, canapes and desserts, and provided samples and recipes.
The guild plans to have a table at the Heisey Museum for the Clinton County Historical Society's garden tour this summer with samples of herbal tea and lemonade, herbal cookies and information about the guild. The herbal garden the guild sponsors at the rear of the museum will be showcased.
Members are asked to donate herbs and perennials for the Master Gardener plant sale at the Cooperative Extension office on Nittany Valley Drive (Route 64) May 11 and 12.
Bellefonte Elks offer gun raffle
BELLEFONTE - Tickets are now available for Bellefonte Elks Lodge No. 1094's Annual Gun Raffle, set for Saturday, Aug. 4 from noon to 5 p.m. at Lambert Hall. A limited number of tickets will be sold. For additional information or tickets, call 814- 355-2828.
The lodge is also looking forward to the Mother's Day buffet on Sunday, May 13 and a Flag Day ceremony and dinner June 14.
Cheer Club meets tomorrow
BEECH CREEK - The Beech Creek-Blanchard Senior Cheer Club will meet at noon tomorrow at the Friendship Community Center. Members are to bring a wrapped gift and food to share.
