LH Legion hosting fundraisers

May 2, 2012
The Express

LOCK HAVEN - The Lock Haven American Legion Post 131, 20 S. Grove St. will host several events, beginning with a guest bartender night tomorrow.

Scott Johnson and DuWayne Kunes will fill the guest spots at the bar from 6 to 9 p.m., raising money for the Lock Haven Area Jaycees. The fun is open to the public, and the kitchen will be open.

Last week, Post Commander Steve Weaver was able to raise $200 for veterans in a similar guest spot.

On Friday, an open, mixed Scottish doubles pool tournament will be held at the post home starting at noon. Teams for the double-elimination tournament will be accepted until the time of the tournament, at $20 per couple. The tournament is a benefit for the grandson of Donny Nyman, Christopher (Bud) Kennedy, who is suffering with a brain tumor and will require surgery.

There will be food for sale and items to be chanced off.

The Legion's monthly nine-point pitch tournament will start at 6 p.m. that night. This is a two-person team tournament at $30 per team. Refreshments will be provided.

For more information on these upcoming events, call the Legion at 748-7414.
