Lightning hits barn; fire destroys it

LAMAR - Lightning is thought to be the cause of a fire that destroyed a two-story storage barn on the Paul Courter farm in back of Tru-Green off of Route 64 in Porter Township overnight.

Express reporters remained on the scene this morning and details were sketchy, but it appears there were no injuries and no animals were hurt or lost.

Firefighters were on the scene virtually all night.

Fire companies responding included Nittany Valley, Lock Haven, Mill Hall, Dunnstown, Beech Creek/Blanchard, Wayne Towship, Lamar Township, Woolrich, Sugar Valley, and from Centre County, Bellefonte, Pleasant Gap, Milesburg, Walker Township and Miles Township. The fire was reported to the Clinton County Communications Center at1:48 a.m. and all fire companies were reported back in service at 5:29 a.m.
