AVIS - The Avis Area Recreation Asso-ciation and Bassett's Rod Shop Car and Truck shows will begin for the season on Sunday, May 20.
The theme shows will be held at a new location, the Avis Volunteer Fire Co. parking lot, from 1 to 4 p.m. on this schedule:
- May 20 - Wear red, white and blue in honor of the upcoming Memorial Day holiday.
- June 24 - Hawaiian luau
- July 22 - Christmas in July
- Aug. 26 - Rock around the clock
- Sept. 23 - '50s fun
- Oct. 21 - "The biggest show ever."
Participation in the themes is optional. All vehicles are welcome, and no admission fee is charged.
The family shows include door prizes, kids' activities, food, music and a 50/50 drawing. (The shows will be cancelled if the weather is inclement.)
Proceeds benefit the Avis Area Recreation Association.
