Bald Eagle Area bested by Mifflin County, 3-0

LEWISTOWN - Bald Eagle Area lost to Mifflin County 3-0 yesterday in Lewistown.

John Romine threw a three-hitter with six strikeouts but earned the loss.

"John threw a great game," Jim Gardner said. "He gave up three runs early, but settled in nicely. He faced only one batter of the minimum in his final five innings."

Bald Eagle (8-7) will travel to State College today.

Shore holds off

Midd-West

JERSEY SHORE - The Jersey Shore Bulldogs survived a rally from Midd-West to hold onto a 7-6 victory yesterday in Jersey Shore.

Shore jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Midd-West came back in the fifth and sixth innings to take a one-run lead. The Bulldogs pulled through, scoring one run in each of the final two innings.

Jersey Shore (11-2-1) will host Montoursville on Friday.

Lady Raiders

earn 14th win

MIFFLINTOWN - Bellefonte scored 10 runs in the third inning and got past Juniata, 14-9, yesterday in Mountain League softball action.

Erica DeVinney had two doubles on the afternoon, while Jess Gmerek and Carly Chambers each had two singles.

Chrissy Tressler was the winning pitcher.

"We are happy to get finished with this long stretch of five games in six days," Bellefonte manager Gregg Kohlhepp said. "We had some mental and physical errors, but it was nice to see us overcome them."

Bellefonte (14-4) hosts Penns Valley on Friday.

Lady Wildcats

HUNTINGDON - Huntingdon scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning en route to an 8-7 win over Central Mountain yesterday.

The Lady Wildcats had 14 hits on the afternoon. Jordan Kaler and Jessica Strouse each had three hits, while Brittany Koch, Rachael Shady and Morgan Kunes each had two.

Strouse, who entered in relief of starter Shady in the second inning, picked up the loss.

CM (7-10) travels to DuBois on Friday.

gets another win

HUNTINGDON - Central Mountain swept four of the five singles' matches en route to a 5-2 victory over Huntingdon yesterday.

Merritt Hall, Daniel Hendricks, Brody White and Colby Peters were singles' winners. The duo of White-Seth Wert picked up the Wildcats' fifth point.

CM is 6-0 in the league, 6-6 overall, and will host Mifflin County today.

Cromley named

to all-league team

DALLAS - Misericordia softball standout Caitlin Cromley was named a second-team All-Freedom pitcher.

Cromley, a junior, was 14-8 with a 3.16 earned run average and 113 strikeouts.

In addition, she led the team in batting (.403) with eight home runs and 28 RBI. She added nine doubles and three triples among her 50 hits for 89 total bases.
