MILL HALL - Central Mountain High School student DaKota Sellinger is going all out for her senior project, bringing the carnival to town next week.

The Mill Hall Spring Carnival will be held May 15 to 19, from 6 to around 10 p.m. each day in the parking lot of the former Puff's Car Sales, Hogan Boulevard.

And it's more than just rides, games and great food.

"She is allowing every booster club to come in and set up a booth for free ... sell whatever they like to benefit the kids," DaKota's mother, Wanda, explained.

Owners of the property - Fred, Kenny and Sherry Gundlach - have donated their parking lot area for the event.

Yes, it's certainly a big undertaking, but "she just felt this is her senior project and she would like to help all booster clubs in the high school because they don't get any money from the school," Wanda said. "They (the booster clubs) can come in and set up, and what they sell, they can keep all the money."

DaKota is a member of the school's girls basketball team and she knows how much money it takes to participate in extracurricular activities.

"She knows how it is when you don't have a lot of money, and when you don't have the money to go on the bus trips, it's very hard," Wanda said. "She said she's not going small for the project. 'I'm going big.'"

The booster clubs can call DaKota by this Friday at 814-625-2792 or 570-541-1213 (cell) to make arrangements for a space ... for food, games or clothing. Wanda noted any food or games must not duplicate what Sun Shine Shows will bring in.

This project is near and dear to DaKota's heart, as her mother and father, Paul, and she and her brother, Harley, all work for Sun Shine Shows during the summer. Her parents have been at it for 20 years.

"DaKota's been around it since she was 6 years old... She was running the duck pond back then," Wanda said.

About a dozen rides will be part of the carnival, with wristbands available nightly.
