Carol Hane Schofield, age 73, of Wilmington, Del., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 9, 2012.
Born in Lock Haven, Carol was a graduate of Lock Haven High School and Lycoming College in Williamsport. She was an art teacher in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware public schools for many years where she inspired several generations of young artists.
Carol's two greatest passions were her family and her art. Watercolor was her favorite medium, and she continued to paint even through her last days.
She was a member of St. Ann's Church and a member of the choir. She was a volunteer at Hagley, Winterthur, Salesianum School, the Mary Campbell Center and the Delaware Association for the Blind. She was an active member of the Irish Culture Club of Delaware and the Henry Clay Historical Society.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Charles Hane and Ethel Brubaker Hane, and her sister, Jacqueline Harvey, all of Lock Haven. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 48 years, Paul Schofield, her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Michael and Tracey, Andrew and Suzette, all of Wilmington, and Dennis and Beth Press of Hockessin. Also surviving are her four beloved grandchildren, Lucy, Catherine, Eamon and Anne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, Gilpin Avenue and Union Street, Wilmington. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Monday evening between 6 and 8 p.m. at Mealey Funeral Home, 703 N. Broom St., Wilmington. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
