May 19, 2012
The Express

The Bellefonte Girls Lacrosse team held their first annual Breast Cancer game April 16, 2011 at Bellefonte. Bellefonte and Danville Girls Lacrosse teams came together to help fight Breast Cancer. The teams collected over $1000 to give the Centre County Breast Cancer Coalition. The 2012 Annual Breast Cancer Game was held in Danville along with Bellefonte and Tunkhannock in a round robin game on April 21st in Danville. All three teams are all working together as one team to help those fighting the battle with Breast Cancer and to remember those who lost the battle. We as young women feel it is a great cause to support as it affects many young and old. This years donations went to the Marie Lamey Memorial Fund that benefits women with breast disease and the nurses who care for them. Marie's Fund will provide medical and non-medical financial assistance for patients, such as mammography screening. Gifts to the fund will also support nursing educations. And, all income will stay close to home, benefiting patients and nurses who live and work in the Geisinger's service area. Along with Bellefonte, Danville and Tunkhannock the Girls Lacrosse raised again over $1000 for the Breast Cancer Coalition. The proceeds collected will help many women now and in the future. The attached photo are the girls lacrosse teams wearing their breast cancer t-shirts as a group, that came together to fight a battle that effects many women. These teams will reunite again next year to continue to help fight for a cure.
