LOCK HAVEN - A low-cost eyeglasses clinic is being offered June 26 in Lock Haven and Renovo by North Western PA Optical Clinic.
The clinic will be held from from 9 to 11 a.m. at the South Renovo Senior Center, 415 Fourth St., and from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Lock Haven Salvation Army Citadel, East Church Street.
Those who wish to take advantage of the offer must have an appointment and bring their prescription with them. Appointments can be made by calling 1-800-901-1912.
The privately funded program provides income-eligible people with eyeglasses for $36, including lined bifocals. No-lines are available at an additional cost.
A solid tint is also offered. Income guidelines are $21,032 for one person, $27,992 for two people, and an additional $6,960 for each additional person in the household.
At the clinic, participants will select their frames and have them measured.
Also, they must pay for the glasses there, in cash or money order.
The completed glasses are mailed directly to the participant's home.
The program is based in Williamsport where it also serves nine other communities, with clinics every six to eight weeks.
