Sorority improves Main Street

May 29, 2012
The Express
The Xi Eta Theta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority recently presented a handicapped-accessible picnic table to the Jersey Shore Main Street Program. The funding came from the sorority’s annual Baby Sweetheart Contest held during Town Meeting, the borough’s Fourth of July celebration. The table is next to the gazebo area on Main Street and was donated in memory of past Beta Sigma Phi sisters of Jersey Shore, according to Molly Hollick, chapter vice president. The chapter also donates to many other charities, including the local police department’s annual Christmas Give-Away program. This gift was the combined effort of the sorority and the Jersey Shore Main Street Program. Sorority members are, from left, Toni Laub, Vonnie Smith, Suzie Phillips, Ronda Rhinehart, Chris Fink, Sallie Dershem, Judy Odell, Beth Bair, Vicki Kitt, Becky Fought, Linda Laub, Caroll Maihle, Nancy Enders and Hollick. Not pictured are Nancy Simcox and Chrys Engle.
