May 30, 2012
The Express

RENOVO - Everyone who enjoys a bicycle ride is invited to participate in one or more legs of the 380-mile Rotary Pedals Out Polio Bike Ride.

Rotary District 7370 is sponsoring the riding tour of each community in the region that has a Rotary club. The ride raises funds for Rotary's campaign to eradicate polio from the face of the earth.

The ride begins in Ashland and ends in Cross Fork, and anyone who would like to ride along for a brief stretch, one or more days, or the whole trip is encouraged to do so.

The ride starts out Wednesday, June 20 in Ashland and 82.2 miles later, ends the first day in Tamaqua. On Thursday, June 21, it's Tamaqua to Mt. Carmel (48.4 miles); Friday, June 22, it's Mt. Carmel to Sunbury (74.8 miles); Saturday, June 23, Sunbury to Hughesville (81.8 miles); and Sunday, June 24, Hughesville to Cross Fork (92.3 miles).

Those not wishing to ride are encouraged to support the event by making a donation to the Rotary Foundation's Polio Plus Campaign.

For information on how to participate, call Renovo Rotary Club President Pattie Rauch at 923-1923.
