LOGANTON - Erin Hollick's fifth grade class at Sugar Valley Rural Charter School spent Thursday afternoon honoring veterans buried in Loganton.

The class placed 108 flags on the graves of the veterans at the cemetery directly across the street from the school, in preparation for Memorial Day. This is a community service project that Hollick's class does each year.

This activity was the perfect conclusion to what the students have been learning all year about civics, our government and our nation's capital.

This year the students even had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. in early April. Veterans of many different wars, including the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War rest in Fairview Evangelical Cemetery in Loganton.
