BRADFORD - Pitt-Bradford junior second basemen Derek Smith was named to the All Mid-Atlantic Region second-team by D3 Baseball Friday.

Smith was named the 2012 AMCC Player of the Year after leading the conference in batting average (.482), slugging percentage (.788), on base percentage (.535), total hits (66), RBIs (57), and total bases (108).

The Jersey Shore native's 57 runs batted in were four shy of the program record and he tied the single-season record with seven home runs. Smith became Pitt-Bradford's all-time RBI leader with a run-scoring single against La Roche in the AMCC tournament. He has driven in 134 runs during his career, including 108 in the last two years. His mark of 1.43 runs batted in per game ranks him among the nation's best, and he hit .577 with runners in scoring position this year.
