LOCK HAVEN - A ligthning strike at around 8:45 p.m. Friday night knocked out power to the entire downtown section of the city for about 45 minutes.

The strike, thought to have occured somewhere near a transformer behind the Veterans of Foreign Wars post on Grove Street, caused firefighters scurrying to deal with several tripped alarms, though no fires were reported.

One such alarm was at the Garden Building, which houses the county's government offices, though no fire was seen.

Also, officials dealt with a downed wire near the Old Corner Bar and Grille and on a utility pole behind the VFW.

Emergency calls persisted through most of the night, including several flooded roads.
