Area churches continue the tradition of offering free Vacation Bible School to kids in the summer. Most are five mornings or evenings of activities that include Bible lessons, music, snacks, games and more.
Faith Chapel United Methodist Church announces "Operation Overboard: Dare to go deep with God" for 3-year-olds through 12th-graders with sessions from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, June 11 to 14. As always, this year's Vacation Bible School will include service projects. The church is on Hunter Run Road, off Route 150 near Bald Eagle State Park. Big Woods Bible Church offers "SonSurf Beach Bash" for 4-year-olds through children who have just completed sixth grade, with sessions from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, June 18 to 22, featuring songs, skits, missionary stories and more. Castanea United Methodist Church announces its Vacation Bible School will be held July 8 to 12.

r JUNE 10-15 - "Operation Overboard" for preschoolers to fifth-graders, Phelps Chapel United Methodist, off the Pine Creek exit of Route 220, 6:30-8:30 p.m. The first session will begin at 6 p.m. The last night will feature a program and cookout.
