Applause!! Applause!!

June 9, 2012
The Express

On June 1, I attended the Pre-K graduation for Building Blocks. I was very happy to see so many children receiving awards for what they achieved in such a short time. The children sang and danced for all of us. HIGH PRAISE to all teachers for a job well done.

- A proud grandmother and great-aunt, Lois Heaton

APPLAUSE to a small but fantastic committee that helped to organize and run Stars and Stripes On The Hill at the fairgrounds. I cannot say thank you enough for your hard work. Also, thank you to all who donated for Vera Bradley Bingo, Theme Basket Bingo, baked goods, games, etc., and to Susquehanna Big Twins Motorcycle Club for holding a poker run and donating the proceeds. Thanks to all of your generosity, the Fair Association was able to give out two $1,000 scholarships. Thank you.

- Ruth Eoute, Stars and Stripes chair

The Kiwanis Club of Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys would like to extend a resounding round of APPLAUSE to the Mill Hall Volunteer Fire Company. Without the great advice and assistance of the fire company, our First Annual Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast would not have been a success. We just wanted to let you know that you're not only appreciated by our Kiwanis club, but also the entire community.

Many THANKS to LHU wrestlers Harry Turner, Aaron McKinney and Fred Garcia for helping spread mulch at the Heisey Museum. You did a nice job and we appreciated your strong arms!

I would like to THANK the person/persons responsible for turning in a lost purse to the front desk of Wal-Mart in Mill Hall last Wednesday morning. This purse belonged to my daughter, who learned a very valuable lesson Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. Her trip shopping was supposed to be for spending her birthday money from her 5th birthday, and turned into a lesson in responsibility and kindness. She was heartbroken as we searched the store after realizing the purse was gone, and we hoped for the best, but I had to prepare her for the worst... that someone would take it and enjoy her money for themselves. As the evening passed and there was no call, she became more and more sad. When the customer service manager phoned me that it had been turned in on Wednesday morning, we could not have been more grateful. Thank you for teaching her that there are kind people in the world and setting an example for her to follow.

- Teresa Everett, Lock Haven

I just want to THANK all the people in Sugar Valley, Clinton County, the surrounding counties, and Pennsylvania and many other states for the prayers, donations and support to all our family on behalf of my great-granddaughter Piper Harmon. I truly believe that affected Piper's outcome. I also thank the doctors and nurses who took care of her. But mostly I want to thank the two donor families who in a time of great sorrow managed to think about another child and donate the organs that benefited Piper.

- Kay McFate, Loganton

A big THANK YOU to Sandy and Dave Miller for donating their space to the Central Mountain Volleyball girls' team for its annual chicken barbecue. Also thanks go out to our "chefs" Joe and Jake Lindsey, Terry Shady, Steve Orndorf, Skin Coleman and Coach Bill Counsil.

- CM Volleyball Booster Club
