This group of second graders in Kira Snyder’s class at Woodward Elementary School were honored with an ice cream party recently as the classroom raising the most money — $250 — in the Countdown Challenge fundraiser in Keystone Central School District. Woodward school also was the top selling school, raising $1,084 of the total $2,819 gathered in the district. All the money goes to “In Your Shoes,” a program that helps youngsters in the area pay for sports and other extra-curricular activities. The $2,800 raised in this endeavor will allow about 50 students in Keystone Central to participate in an activity that they otherwise could not afford. For their efforts, the students at Woodward received a popsicle party and the school, a plaque. With the second graders are, Steph Kennedy at left and Angie Waltz at right, learning support staff; Mrs. Snyder, second from the right; Tammy Miller, president of “In Your Shoes,” holding the plaque in the center of the group, and Barb Emert, secretary of “In Your Shoes,” in back center.
