MILL HALL - The former Blue Chimney Restaurant on Route 150 should have a new look soon.
Drs. David J. and Leah M. Charney are in the process of buying the building and plan to renovate it to accommodate their practice, Advanced Family Chiropractic, now on Hogan Boulevard.
Dr. Leah Charney shared the plans with Borough Council on Tuesday and requested a lower sewer bill for the structure. Council lowered it to equal an average household but may raise it again once the practice re-opens there.
Also at the meeting, council approved Pat Mumma's request to lower her sewer bill to that of an average household. On May 31, she closed Pat's Unique Boutique beauty salon which she ran in her home on Railroad Street, so the property is now just a private house.
Council officially adopted the county's 10-year Hazard Mitigation Plan which has been updated to meet the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. The borough participated in the update, spearheaded by county emergency services.
If council had not approved such a plan, the borough would not be eligible for FEMA programs that offer funding to help decrease hazards, prepare for disasters, provide public assistance, and deal with flood claims.
Council also voted to change medical insurance for borough employees to a Geisinger plan
The recent purchase of two meters to measure sewage flow was discussed. The meters are part of the borough's ongoing work to improve the sewer system.
A legal matter was discussed in executive session, closed to the public.
