YMCA offers summer fun for youth

LOCK HAVEN - The Lock Haven Area YMCA's popular Adventure Camp has been expanded to include children as young as 10.

Adventure Camp starts next week and and runs through Aug. 23. Children and youth ages 10 to 14 will have adventures Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including kayaking, hiking and trips.

Registration is now being taken for the camp, at the fee of $50 per week. Some activities require extra equipment fees.

A DCNR Outdoor Excursion Camp for ages 13 to 15 is being planned for July 17 to 20, also from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Participants must be able to attend all four days. Activities will include kayaking, hiking, backpacking and mountain biking. The fee is $50.

The YMCA's youth event for June is Spirit Night, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27. Kids ages 8 to 12 are invited to show their "Teem Spirit." The fun includes relay races throughout the evening, prizes and awards for Best Spirit Attire. The cost is $3 for members and $5 for non-members.
