YARD SALE DAYS
The Beech Creek town-wide yard sale is scheduled for today and tomorrow. Please be patient with the extra traffic and pedestrians in town during the yard sale hours.
The Beech Creek Museum is in need of a working television and a DVD player for showing the recorded interviews. If you have one or if you see one at a yard sale, please consider donating it to the museum. Your contribution is tax-deductible and a receipt can be provided to you.

CHURCH NEWS
Summit Hill Wesleyan and Marsh Creek BIC churches are gearing up for Vacation Bible School on June 18-21. The churches alternate hosting VBS, and this year it will be held at Summit Hill Church. VBS will be held each evening from 7 to 8:30. A family picnic is planned for 6:30 on Thursday evening.
Children and their parents are invited to the VBS where an exciting Bible story will be presented each evening. The theme this year is "Roaring for Jesus," and sessions feature stories about Noah and the animals on the ark, Daniel being thrown into the hungry lions den and others.
Members from both of the churches had a good time working together to build a float for the Beech Creek Memorial Day Parade. Parade walkers and float riders passed out lollipops and VBS flyers. Both church pastors would like to thank the Beech Creek American Legion for the $50 check provided for float participation. This money is a good start at helping us to meet our VBS offering goal this year.
Vacation Bible School planners also want to give a big thank-you to Andy Kotzur for allowing use of his Howard garage for us while we worked on the parade float preparations and to Eric Kotzur for driving the John Deere tractor for us during the parade.
On June 3 at Marsh Creek BIC Church a graduation service was held to honor BEA graduate Keirsey Hackenberg. Also on June 3 a membership induction service was held as Bonnie Gray and Phyllis Moore joined the church.
The annual Sunday school picnic was held at Manntown Grove pavilion on June 10. Fellowship, games and a picnic supper were enjoyed. Afterward a movie, "Chronicles of Narnia," was shown for family movie night.
Cora Buckwalter passed away on June 7 at Messiah Village. Cora and her late husband, Rev. Lloyd Buckwalter, were the pastoral couple serving at Marsh Creek BIC for more than 45 years before their retirement in 1986. A public viewing at 3:30 and a memorial service beginning at 4 p.m. will be held at the church today.
