New meter reader is on the job

LOCK HAVEN - The city has hired a new parking enforcement person, and drivers who have been lax about feeding the meters will want to take note. Abbigale Rathmell is the new employee, City Council heard Monday.

Police Detective Charles Shoemaker plans to retire at the end of the year, Councilman William E. Baney brought up. The department should start looking for new candidates now, he said, considering how long it seems to take to run candidates through the required tests.

Some municipalities schedule the agility test in the morning and the Civil Service exam later the same day, so those who do not complete the agility portion do not need to take the written test.
