Ronald M. “Boomer” Brungard

Ronald M. "Boomer" Brungard, 67, of 332 W. Walnut St., Lock Haven, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Susque-View Home.

He was born in Lock Haven on June 12, 1945, the son of the late Harold M. "Pete" and Dorothy Williams Brungard.

On Oct. 14, 1967 in Blanchard, he married Susan Thompson, who survives in Lock Haven.

Boomer was a 1963 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a member of the Army National Guard.

He was a member of the Great Island Presbyterian Church.

He was employed by Mellon Bank and Beech Creek National Bank for many years before becoming self-employed. He later worked and retired from the Clinton County Correctional Facility as a corrections officer.

He was a longtime member and was extremely active with the Lock Haven Jaycees. Among numerous other Jaycees committees, he was proud to have served as the Boat Race Chairman for many years as well as playing a huge role in the Labor Day fireworks.

He was also a member of the Dunnstown Fire Company, Goodwill Hose Fire Company, and Lock Haven Ambulance and was active with many other fire and ambulance associations.

He was past president of the LHU Wrestling Club, active in the Clinton County Relay for Life and involved with the Sentimental Journey Fly-In since its inception.

Boomer enjoyed playing softball and was an umpire for local softball and baseball leagues. In addition, many people knew him in the area as Santa Claus.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Brian K. (Bobie) Brungard of Mill Hall and Eric J. (Ashley) Brungard of Lock Haven; two daughters, Dana S. (Michael) Marino and Amy J. (Brandon) Hull, both of Lock Haven; 13 grandchildren, and a brother, Robert "Bump" Brungard of Lock Haven.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W. Water St., Lock Haven, with Pastor Benjamin Lins officiating.

Friends and family will be accepted at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Great Island Presbyterian Church or the Lock Haven Area Jaycees Labor Day Fireworks Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa.
