Burglar hit on head, thrown out of house
BELLEFONTE - A borough man is charged with burglary. criminal trespass, prowling, public drunkenness and resisting arrest after he allegedly forced his way into the home of 76-year-old victim early Sunday, Tpr. Buchheit of state police at Rockview said. Kenneth L. Miller, 42, was confronted by the elderly resident when he entered the residence at around 4:18 a.m., police said. The resident then asked Miller to leave. When he didn't, the resident struck Miller in the head and threw him out the door, police said. The victim then contacted police, who found Miller intoxicated behind the home, police said.
Miller was taken to the Centre County Correctional Institution and was set to be arraigned on Sunday, police said.
Man hits officers with metal chair
LOCK HAVEN - A city man is in the Clinton County Correctional Facility after he allegedly stole a donation can, then hit city police officers with a metal chair, city police said. Brandon Lee Hinton, 28, of 23 E. Water St., Apt. C, was arrested for allegedly stealing a donation jar with an unknown amount of money from Dollar General, 16 E. Main St., at around 6 p.m. on Friday, police said. While in police custody, Hinton allegedly struck officers with a metal chair, police said. He was taken to the Clinton County Correctional Facility and bail was denied, police said.
Groundhog causes crash
BELLEFONTE - No injuries were reported after a Bellefonte man swerved to miss a groundhog on Moose Run Road, Boggs Township, Friday afternoon, Tpr. Mathias Schmotzer of state police at Rockview said. Travis E. McCloskey, 31, of Bellefonte, was driving his 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage DE north on Moose Run Road at around 5:30 p.m., when he swerved to miss a groundhog in the road and cross the southbound lane, police said. The car then struck a log on the left shoulder, causing major damage to the front left tire and front bumper, police said.
McCloskey was not injured. His car had to be towed from the scene, police said.
Central air unit stolen
JERSEY SHORE - Unknown persons stole a central air unit, a riding lawn mower, an aluminum ladder and a grill from the yard at the residence of Gary Ludwig, 70, of 74 Cemetery Road, Porter Township, sometime between June 14 and19, Tpr. Sean Coovey of state police at Montoursville said. The unknown persons then left the scene in an unknown direction, police said.
Picnic table, chairs taken
LOCK HAVEN - Someone stole a picnic table and chairs from in front of 352 E. Main St., Apt. 2, after it was dropped off by UPS on June 15, city police said. The items are valued at $160, police said.
Minor injury
LOCK HAVEN - One minor injury was reported after a two-car crash Friday afternoon, city police said. Danielle Briggs of Lock Haven, was driving her 2004 Saturn Ion south on North Fairview Street when she hit the rear of a 2003 Honda Pilot driven by Kevin M. Range of Lock Haven while he was slowed down for traffic at the intersection with Glenn Road, police said. Briggs was taken by private vehicle to Jersey Shore Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, police said. She will be cited for careless driving, police said. Range was not injured.
DUI, minor drinking
LOCK HAVEN - Three people are charged after their car was stopped for having no headlights on at 2 a.m. June 10 in the 800 block of Bellefonte Avenue, city police said. Max Toner II, 18, of Harris Lane, Mill Hall, was charged with DUI after the stop, police said. Two passengers in the vehicle, Genae Salinas, 18, of Mackeyville Road, Mill Hall, and an unidentified 17-year-old girl were arrested for minor drinking, police said.
Minor injuries
WILLIAMSPORT - Two Jersey Shore residents sustained minor injuries after a two-car crash Thursday morning on Third Street, Tpr. Douglass Hoffman of state police at Montoursville said. Robert G. Barrett, 90, of Jersey Shore was driving his 2005 Toyota Camry east in the right lane of East Third Street around 11:50 a.m., when Steven R. Adam, 26, of Houston, Texas, turned his 2012 Toyota Corolla into the path of Barrett's car, police said. Adam's car then turned 270 degrees clockwise and came to rest facing northwest partially in the eastbound lane of East Third Street, police said. Barrett's car continued for about 25 yards before coming to rest on the road, police said. Barrett suffered minor injuries. A passenger, Ann S. Barrett, 87, also of Jersey Shore, sustained an injury of unknown severity, police said. Both cars were towed from the scene.
No injuries
BELLEFONTE - No injuries were reported after a two-car crash Saturday afternoon on Dell Street, Boggs Township, Tpr. Charles Hockenberry of state police at Rockview said. Robert R. Newman, 23, of Milesburg was driving his 2007 GMC 2500 HD truck, when he stopped at the intersection with Dell Street around 4:50 p.m., then turned left into the path of a 2009 Volvo S60 driven by Jacob M. Taylor, 17, of Bellefonte, police said. The Taylor car had to be towed from the scene, police said.
Found bicycle
LOCK HAVEN - A 20-inch Mongoose bicycle was found at the intersection of Willards Alley and Race Street at 10:10 a.m. Saturday, city police said. The owner may identify and claim the bike at City Hall.
