JS Town Meeting is open for business

52nd annual celebration includes parade on Thursday

JERSEY SHORE - The 52nd annual Jersey Shore Town Meeting Celebration got underway Monday night with the ribbon cutting ceremony at the borough's recreation field.

The fun began shortly thereafter when carnival rides, food and game booths, displays and demonstrations and entertainment began.

The celebration continues all week, ending fireworks on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.

On Thursday night, the every popular gigantic street parade will march through town, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Immediately after the parade, this year's 'Baby Sweethearts' will be named and the 2012 Queen Tiadaghton will be crowned on the stage.

Other activities planned through the week follow:

TODAY

10 a.m. - Tiadaghton Elm Ceremony on the stage at Town Meeting grounds (rain or shine) ; Jersey Shore Home Town Hero Program at the stage

6 p.m. Celebration field opens

6-10 p.m. - Entertainment by Covert Action

THURSDAY

6 p.m. - Celebration field opens with amusement rides by Sunshine Shows

6:15 to 8 p.m. - Parade from Allegheny to Broad to Thompson streets

7:30 to 8 p.m. - Baby Sweetheart contest on the stage

8 to 8:30 p.m. - Queen Tiadaghton crowned on the stage

8:30 to 10 p.m. - Entertainment by Phil Reeder on the stage

FRIDAY

6 p.m. - Celebration field opens

6:15 to 8 p.m. - Rain date for parade

6 to 10 p.m. - Entertainment by Chris Ruble Band

SATURDAY

1 p.m. - Soap Box Derby on Thompson Street

6 p.m. - Celebration Field opens

6 to 10 p.m. - Entertainment by Chris Ruble Band

9:45 p.m. - Fireworks
