On June 30, my wife and I went to the Best Of Clinton County celebration. We enjoyed the live music and all other activities.
When the parade started, an announcement was made to stand and remove your hats. I noticed a lot of younger people (late teens to late 20) not only not removing their hats, but did not acknowledge the flag at all. Yet alongside me stood a 3- or 4-year-old boy who saluted the flag as the 82nd Abn. Div. Honor Guard passed.
Maybe some refresher classes are needed for some of our youth. Maybe they are not aware of fact the American Flag stands for freedom around the world. Let us not forget freedom is not free!
