In response to "Emergency Vet Service Needed" by Barbara Wensel on Saturday, July 7 - I couldn't agree more. Although it doesn't happen often, every pet owner would benefit from this service.
Our vet that we use does generally have an on-call, or emergency number, to use if we need something after hours. But they, like the rest of us, enjoy time off, too.
The emergency clinic in State College that was referenced is a great example of an Emergency Care Vet Clinic. Our dogs had excellent care there recently.
They are only open when our family veterinarians are not. Despite the great care we received, an after hours vet clinic in the Lock Haven area is needed. The drive to State College or Watsontown in an extreme emergency could make the difference between life and death.
