July 13, 2012

BELLEFONTE - The Centre County Library and Historical Museum will host Commonwealth Speaker Steve Anderson's presentation "Homegrown Heroes: PA Communities in the Civil War" at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the library's technology suite. The presentation is free and open to the public.

The "Homegrown Heroes" presentation shares remarkable true stories of the Civil War as experienced by civilians who found themselves in harm's way. The storytelling is performed in 19th-century garb and invites audience participation and the use of the imagination.

This presentation is a program of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, sponsored in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. The Pennsylvania Museum hosts this program to further its mission of bringing the community together to learn about and share our local history.
