I feel the need to write in response to the recent letters regarding emergency/24-hour veterinary care.
Our veterinary hospital is Williamsport West, which, in my opinion, is the best in the area for its care, compassion and service. It does not offer 24-hour care, but when my pets became patients, its staff and the doctors told me about Watsontown Emergency Care.
My dog, Finnigan, is epileptic. If a severe seizure requiring medical attention would occur after regular hours, an emergency plan is in place. I keep a map, the phone number and contact person with me at all times if this should happen.
My point? Even if I didn't have a beloved pet with special needs, the first thing I would ask any veterinarian is do you provide 24-hour care? If you don't, who do I go to? If they don't have a response, I'd recommend you find another doctor.
Over Christmas, we had to make an emergency run to Watsontown with my daughter's beagle and I can confirm for you it has an incredible staff of people and she received wonderful care and is doing great.
While closer emergency care would be the answer, we do have options.
