Disgusting that people want to protect Paterno and PSU

July 24, 2012
BETSY SCHINDLER - Baltimore, Md. , The Express

According to USA Today, "victim number 1" from the Penn State University abuse scandal lived in Lock Haven.

I am reading some editorials from your Lock Haven newspaper and I am shocked and sickened by how most of the people writing in seem to feel the need to stick up for PSU and Joe Paterno.

People keep trying to pin the blame on others and do not seem to have any interest in putting the blame where it should be - on the people who we now know absolutely knew about the abuse and covered it up! How can you protect these people?

How must this "victim" feel if he reads his local paper?

He was abused by Jerry Sandusky and treated poorly by his own community simply because people care more about PSU football and its overly-revered football coach?

What kind of world are we living in?

It is disgusting to think there are people who still want to protect Joe Paterno and PSU football.

If this "victim" were their child or grandchild, I wonder if they would still feel that way.
