Public drunkenness alleged
LOCK HAVEN-Darryl Wayne McDermit, 51, of 308 Draketown Road, Mill Hall, was arrested for public drunkenness after he was allegedly found on Second Avenue under the influence of alcohol, and yelling at a vehicle Sunday at 2:16 a.m., city police said.
LOCK HAVEN-Someone entered a house on North Henderson Street on Saturday and stole a TV, PS3, DVDs, a game, and personal effects, valued at about $1,200, city police said. Also on Saturday, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., a house at 4 N. Henderson St. was burglarized and a TV was stolen, police said.
LOCK HAVEN-Leonard Francis Cook Jr., 45, of 210 First St., Apt. 3, was arrested after an alleged physical altercation with a 56-year-old man on the 200 block of First Street on Thursday, city police said. Cook allegedly shoved the man to the ground and struck him numerous times, resulting in a bruised abdomen, police said.
LOCK HAVEN-A 26-inch men's GT blue and white bicycle was found at Willard's Alley and Locust Alley on Saturday afternoon, city police said.
WATERVILLE-Steve L. Welshans, 62, of Jersey Shore, was driving a 2010 freightliner truck-tractor south on Moore Road in Cummings Township July 20 at 10:45 p.m. when the wet dirt road gave out beneath the trailer, causing the freightliner to overturn onto its passenger side and stopped, state police at Montoursville said. Welshans was not injured in the crash, but sustained minor injuries when he released his seatbelt and fell from his seat onto the passenger's side door, police said. He was transported by EMS to the Jersey Shore Hospital where he was treated and released, police said. He was not charged, police reported.
Man allegedly flees accident scene
AVIS-A Lock Haven man allegedly fled the scene of an accident July 25 on Route 150, state police at Lamar said. Scott D. Condo, 21, was driving north on Route 150 when his vehicle crossed the center line at the West Central Avenue intersection and went across the southbound lane and into a drainage ditch, police said. It continued traveling north in the ditch for about 50 feet, struck a culvert at the ditch's end, and went airborne, rolling over once, and stopping on its wheels in the center of Route 150, facing west, police said. Condo allegedly fled the scene on foot, and is charged with roadways laned for traffic, unregistered vehicle, immediate notice of accident to police department and required financial responsibility, police said.
CASTANEA-A 42-year-old Lock Haven man was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI Saturday at 12:45 a.m. after he was stopped for not using his turn signal; charges will be filed pending final BAC results, state police at Lamar said. At the same date and time, a 28-year-old Avis woman was also arrested for a possible DUI when she was found parked along Route 150 in Pine Creek Township, having car trouble, state police at Lamar said. Upon further investigation, she was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, and charges will be filed pending final BAC results, police said.
Freightliner crashes, avoids car
LOGANTON-A freightliner crashed trying to avoid an out-of-control car ahead on Interstate 80, state police at Lamar said. Daniel A. Mendez, 40, of Los Angeles, Calif., was driving the freightliner and braked and swerved to avoid the car at 4:54 p.m. Thursday, causing the 2000 freightliner Century to spin 180 degrees and crash into the embankment along the berm, police said. Both Mendez and his passenger, Minelos T. Ricardo, 49, of Compton, Calif., were transported by ambulance to Lock Haven Hospital for treatment for minor injuries, police said.
