STATE COLLEGE - Lisa Christie, Mrs. America 1997-1998 and national fitness expert, will speak at a women's empowerment conference hosted by a nonprofit organization in State College.
The women's empowerment conference, "Beauty: From the Inside Out," hosted by S&R Association, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 11 at C 3 Community Center, 200 Ellis Place, State College,
Keynote speaker Lisa Christie, who recently appeared on Dr. Phil and The Doctors Show, will share fitness tips from the PINK Method fitness program as well as speak on the power of positive thinking. The event will feature five breakout sessions on parenting, work-life balance, beauty on the go, emotional wholeness and financial management, and will also feature live music from vocalists Tabby Emel and Kimberly Dick.
"I'm excited to be a part of this wonderful event, said Christie, former Mrs. America. "I truly believe that this conference will change lives. It's going to be epic."
The event will offer door prizes and products and services from local vendors. Tickets are $25 in advance at www.BeautyFromTheInsideOut2012.org, and can also be purchased at C 3 Community Center. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $35.
Lunch is included in the cost of the ticket. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Centre County Women's Resource Center.
