WILLIAMSPORT - Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BCNEPA) and Susquehanna Health recently hosted a free health education event at The LifeCenter in the Lycoming Mall to help local children and their caregivers learn about the importance of making healthy food choices.

Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and Susquehanna Health presented "Kids in the Kitchen: Taste a Rainbow of Healthy Snacks" as a free, age-appropriate activity for children 4-to-12 years old featuring Susquehanna Health's Registered Dietitian Kathryn McKernan.

Youngsters used child-safe utensils to prepare simple, healthy and budget-friendly snacks. Nearly 50 children and their parents or caregivers attended this unique program, with all sessions filled to capacity. McKernan also provided participants with tips on selecting healthier food options and correct food portion sizes.
