ZION-A Howard man was killed Saturday around noon at the Route 64 and Route 550 intersection, and his passenger is in critical condition, state police at Rockview said.
Dennis Praskovich Jr., 49, was driving a 1984 Honda Shadow motorcycle south on Route 64, with his passenger, Dawn Praskovich, 46, both of Howard, when a 17-year-old female driving a 2012 Hyundai Elantra with a 14-year-old passenger pulled left onto Route 64 from Route 550, and pulled into the motorcycle's path, police said.
Police said Praskovich applied his brakes and skidded over 18 feet when he lost control of the vehicle, and the motorcycle slid onto its left side. It was then that Mr. Praskovich was ejected and struck the side rear wheel and lower fender of the Hyundai, police said.
The motorcycle kept sliding south and Ms. Praskovich was ejected onto the roadway, police said.
Mr. Praskovich was pronounced dead at the scene by assistant Coroner Debra Smeal, and Ms. Praskovich was flown by Life Flight to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, police said. She was listed in critical condition as of press time last night.
