Matthew McCobin earns Eagle Scout

STATE COLLEGE - An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held on March 3 for Matthew E. McCobin, son of David and Judy McCobin, State College. The award ceremony took place at the Park Forest Baptist Church, State College.

Matthew is a member of State College Boy Scout Troop 32, under the leadership of Scoutmaster David L. Peck.

He has earned 22 merit badges and spent 92 nights camping. In addition, he has accumulated 192 service hours. He has served in the following leadership positions: Librarian, Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, and Order of the Arrow Representative.

For his Eagle Scout Community Service Award, Matthew made improvements to the Park Forest Baptist Church Youth Group campsite. The project included adding trail lighting and power to the site, which improved safety and made the campsite more usable.

Presenters included Dr. David Maneval, Charles Keener, Dallas Lykens, Denny Nau, Steve Dershem, Scott Conklin and Glenn "GT" Thompson.
