Johanna G. Muthler

Johanna G. Muthler, 85, of 110 Muthler Lane, Jersey Shore, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 in the Manor Care Health Center in Jersey Shore.

Born May 5, 1927 in Uniontown, she was the daughter of Nevin Grieb and the former Ellen E. Eglinston.

She is survived by her husband, John K. Muthler. They were united in marriage May 9, 1998. Johanna and John met at the Lock Haven Y.M.C.A. as members of the "Twinges in the Hinges" program.

She attended Lock Haven Area schools and later graduated from Gettysburg High school. Johanna attended the University of Montana and later earned degrees from Millersville State College and Towson State University.

She retired after many years as a Kindergarten teacher in the York School District.

She enjoyed crosswords, cards, her cats, spending time with her loving family at reunions and shopping for antiques with her daughters-in-law.

Surviving is a daughter, Rebecca (Fred) Niggeler of Dillon, Colo.; two grandsons and one great-grandson; five step children, Lucinda L. (Wesley) Brannaka of Roaring Branch, Stephen K. (Deborah) Muthler of Antes Fort, Daniel J. (Jan) Muthler of Jersey Shore, Barbara A. (Kirk) Mosier of Bethel, Ark. and James J. (Carol) Muthler of Jersey Shore; 10 step grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren.

Services and burial in the Tylersville Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.

Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, is in charge of arrangements.
